Why Watch Rembrandt's Wife
In the middle 1600s, Rembrandt van Rijn was a popular artist, renowned for his paintings. One of the recurring subjects of many of his paintings was his wife, Saskia van Uylenburgh, with whom he led a happy and luxurious life. Rembrandt, however, died alone and destitute. The women he loved had all left him, due to misfortune and his own doing. Discover the extraordinary story of an extraordinary artist!
Rembrandt’s Wife was composed by Andrew Ford, who was better known for hosting ABC’s Music Show. Screenwriter Sue Smith is in charge of the libretto, and the opera went on to become one of the highlights of 2009, following its premiere. Director Tabatha McFadyen is all set to revive the story of Rembrandt. With a star-studded lineup consisting of Richard Anderson and Taryn Fiebig, Rembrandt’s Wife promises to be an unforgettable evening of entertainment!
